Printable Writing Paper Templates for Primary Grades

The writing paper on this page is meant to help preschool, kindergarten or early elementary grade students who are learning their handwriting skills and need guide lines. These templates have the traditional three-line layout used to learn block or cursive lettering. There are variations with different line heights, including 1 1/2 inch, one inch, three-quarter inch, half inch, eighth inch and quarter inch heights. The three line format has a darker baseline to emphasize the correct place to anchor letter shapes. The dashed middle line is in a lighter color, and the top line is shown in red to emphasize that letter shapes should not exceed this edge.

Set the line height and which of the four lines you want — top, dashed middle, writing line and descender. Taller lines suit younger children; drop the height as handwriting settles.
