Practising the Facts That Need It

Most multiplication practice goes wrong in the same way: a child who is confident to the fives spends half of every sheet proving it. Setting the factor ranges narrowly — the threes, fours and fives, say, against zero to twelve — puts the work where it is needed instead of spreading it evenly over facts that are already secure.

The one problem with a narrow range is that a sheet drilling a single fact becomes a copying exercise rather than practice. The Mix in easier facts control handles that: it fills part of the sheet with facts from earlier in the times tables, the same way the Spaceship Math series does. A worksheet for the sevens comes out as sevens mixed with facts your student already knows, which is what practice should look like.

Answer Keys and Several Versions

The answer key prints as its own page at the back of the PDF, laid out exactly like the worksheet, so an answer can be found by its position rather than by counting down a list. Switch it off when the sheet is going home with a student.

Asking for more than one version produces that many differently generated worksheets in a single PDF, each with its own key. Four versions is usually enough that neighbours are not working the same problems.
